Frequently Asked Questions

- Do I have to be a resident of Hanover/Norwich to participate in the Program? No, though many participants are Hanover High School students and family members. Residents from Lyme, Thetford, Lebanon, Hartford, and Enfield have also participated in exchanges.

- Do I have to be able to speak French? Again no, but it helps if you have some familiarity with the language. The high school students generally have 1-2 years of French, but the adults and special focus groups tend to have less exposure. The only requirement is to be of good spirit and maintain a sense of humor.

- How can I learn more about Joigny? Dartmouth Bookstore has travel books on the Burgundy region. And if you want to test your French, try the picturesque website of the Town of Joigny. Another worthwhile site is that of our counterpart organization in France, i.e. the Joigny Exchange Committee, headed by Guy and Marie-Claude Mathiaut. If you have specific questions/suggestions about visiting Joigny, contact us by sending an e-mail to Pietie at Valley.Net.
